Employee must be able to respond on-site within thirty minutes to emergency calls after hours. Starting wage is $14.00 per hour.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Skilled maintenance work in connection with the installation of sewer services and the repair of underground structures. Works under the direct supervision of the Operations Supervisor. Performs duties which may be carried out independently but which are subject to check upon completion for satisfactory performance. Frequent physical effort demanded in working in cramped positions while performing duties under varying weather conditions. Frequent contact with customers to resolve complaints about sewer service and filling of appropriate reports. Check and record daily pump station conditions. Could be called upon to assist with the Operation and Maintenance of the Authorities Blacks Creek Treatment Facility. Which could include operation of the belt filter press, Pump, tank, building and grounds maintenance. Duties also include operation of chemical feed systems, record keeping and any other duties associated with plant operations.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Install and/or repair sewer mains and service lines. Rods and cleans sewer lines. Checks operation at pumping stations. Adds required chemicals to sewer system. Assists in the maintenance of pumping stations, collection lines and treatment plant. Answers call outs from customers to resolve blockage problems. Checks pump station operations.
Performs related work as required.
Requires minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training is a plus. Any combination of education or experience which provides the following knowledges, abilities and skills:
– Knowledge of methods used in installing and maintaining sewer systems.
– Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
– Ability to perform physical tasks under varying weather conditions.
– Ability to complete written reports, which are informative, legible and accurate.
– Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required for sewer cleaning machine.
